About the Author:
Laina Turner-Molaski is a business woman, mom, author, Professor, and a major supporter of shopping. She has an undying love for shoes and coffee, which is why she created the main character and alter-ego Presley Thurman.
With a lot of letters after her name and a ton of student loan debt she is always working to pay the bills. While she enjoys her day job, her passion is writing and uses a lot of company time writing her fiction. She is hoping to sell her book before she gets fired from her day job for goofing off.
Laina is currently living in Indiana, with her family, and is always writing something, whether it is blogs, articles, business journals and books or ideas for her next novel. She is continuously doing what she loves which is writing or drinking coffee.
My Opinion:
This book for the most part was rather like reading a stream of consciousness from a very unfocused young woman. Her brain went hither and yon and then! Why don't I solve the murder!
Uhm, yeah.
Presley Thurman finds herself fired after she refuses to sleep with her boss. Her boss that is a know lecher. Uh - why don't we report him? She just quits? This makes no sense to me. Then she takes on a writing job because she happened to run into a friend at a bar and he needed a writer. Of course Presley can write. Her new boss needs an article about their U.S. Senator who just happens to live in Presley's home town.
She heads home to spend some time with her parents who were not happy with her move to the big city of Chicago and to get her interview. While home she catches up with old friends and the Senator is murdered! Oh no! What will Presley do?
Solve it of course. What else would a former H.R. person do? Having so much experience in law enforcement and all...Presley knows everyone in town and follows the gossip to find the answers.
I'm sorry I just didn't find this one plausible or even that enjoyable. Too many coincidences and too many just plain silly happenstances. It read quickly, I'll give it that.
