Graduations Past and Future

My nieces and nephews mean the world to me. I don't have children so I have appropriated other people's and made them my own. My first child is my goddaughter; the child of my very good friend. My second my nephew; the son of my baby brother. They were born mere months apart and both turned 16 this year. They were followed by my goddaughter's sister, my nephew's sister then my brother in law had a son the same year my eldest brother had a daughter. Then my middle brother gave me another boy, my brother in law gave me two more nephews and my middle brother the last of my children - another nephew.

Confusing, I know but they are not really mine and I won't share their names or images here because they are not mine to share. What I will share is my love for all of them and they joy I experienced as they graduate through the various stages of life.

I clearly remember, in spite of my poor memory, kindergarten graduation for my first two. Paper caps and mini gowns were worn as they wobbled up to get their "diplomas." I cried then as I tear up now thinking of my babies growing older. Those first two babies will soon graduate from High School and I won't be there to see it unless some miracle happens. This makes me so very sad.
They have grown up to be intelligent, well grounded teenagers and I miss them and my other kids so very much.  College will soon follow. So many graduations so many milestones.

Milestones need to marked and celebrated and a personalized card can help express your feelings. Especially if you are far away and can't be there in person.
