Review and #Giveaway: Simply Potatoes

I LOVE potatoes.
Baked, mashed, fried, au gratin.
Mmmm, you cook 'em, I'll eat 'em.

Problem is the hubby isn't quite as fond o'the spud as I am. He will eat them but I could eat them EVERY night.
heh

Simply Potatoes makes it easy to cook and serve potatoes every night if YOU would like.
I remember when they first came out. It was right around when I had my surgery for my aneurysm. One of my favorite comfort foods is mashed potatoes with corn; don't judge me. We all have those foods that just make us feel better when we are sick. For me it's a big bowl of buttery mashed potatoes with corn all mixed in. I know, I know, it looks like something the cat haucked up but to me it's heaven in a bowl.

After I had recovered enough to take care of myself the hubby went back to work. He stocked the freezer for me with Simply Potatoes Mashed Potatoes. I could make my favorite comfort food anytime I wanted.

Now Simply Potatoes are FRESH. You don't have to thaw anything. You can just open the bag, cook your potatoes and serve them up. How convenient is that?
They are available in a wide array of cuts including four different types of mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, two types of hash browns, diced potatoes, wedges and slices.

Whew! That's a LOT of potatoes!
I took my coupon into the WalMart in Missoula and found Simply Potatoes Shredded Hash Browns and Diced Potatoes with Onions. I was disappointed that only the two choices were availalable. Not being a big fan of the onion, I went for the hash browns and knew I could make a delicious side dish. If you don't want to make up your own, the Simply Potatoes site has plenty of recipes to help you use your choice of potato.

But here's mine - cheesy hash browns. Mmmmmm...they were yummy AND easy.

I put my cast iron pan on a burner, added some olive oil and let it get hot.

Then I added 1/2 of the Simply Potatoes Hash Browns.  After they had warmed a bit I topped them with some salt and pepper and my homemade goat's milk cheddar cheese.

I topped them with the remaining potatoes in the bag.
I let that cook for about 15 - 20 minutes and I checked to make sure the bottom was nice and brown.  When I saw that it was I flipped the potatoes out onto a pot lid.

Hey, it's the first time I tried this! I know it's less than perfect - but it worked!
Then I flipped them back into the pan to brown on the other side.

I let it cook for another 20 minutes and then slid the potato cake out onto a plate.

It was nice and crunchy on both sides, while the cheese was all melty and the potatoes were hot and soft on the inside.

Mmmmm, tasty!
I served it with a marinated elk steak and some roasted green beans.

The potatoes took well to the sharp cheese and complimented the steak perfectly.
It sure made dinner come together F.A.S.T. to not have to peel and shred the potatoes!
That is a big help for those nights when you are running hither and yon.

We love to have breakfast for dinner here, so we'd create a breakfast skillet dinner with it. Hash browns with mushrooms and crumbled bacon. Topped with cheddar and two eggs (either over easy or scrambled). Good stuff!

My honey loves hashbrowns and I very rarely make them. It would suprise him quite a bit to see them on his dinner plate. Maybe add a little onion and green pepper to them for some flavor and color.

I would actually make a cheddar broccoli soup and then cook up the hashbrowns and add them in for a bit of thickness to the soup.
