About the Author:
Fabio Viviani was born in Florence, Italy, and became a sous chef at Il Pallaio, a trattoria in Firenze, at the age of sixteen. He now works as the owner and executive chef of Cafe Firenze, a renowned Italian restaurant in Ventura County, California, and Osteria Firenze, a Los Angeles Italian eatery. He has appeared on Top Chef (season five), Top Chef All Stars, and Life After Top Chef.

I remember watching Fabio on Top Chef back before I lost my Bravo (sniff sniff). I found him to be very entertaining and engaging. The writing in his cookbook is much as I remember him from the television show. The introduction to each recipe is a story and you feel as if he is sitting there telling it to you.
The recipes are not fancy, just good Italian food. This is an excellent cookbook to have for those delicious Italian favorites; risotto, ravioli, gnocchi and a perfect roast chicken. I must admit that when I went to Italy my most memorable meal from two weeks of some of the best food I had ever eaten was a perfectly roast chicken. Such a simple thing to cook, but so often delivered bland. I've tried to re-create that bird and I've come close....
The instructions are well written and easy to follow and the ingredients are likely to be found in a stocked pantry. The photos are glorious and there are plenty of them. This is a cookbook to be savored.
I'm sorry I don't have a recipe to show you - one will be coming. It's just been hectic as all get out around the yurt so I've just not been cooking as much as usual.
